Regenerating of a former warehouse

“MUG – Magazzini Generativi” was developed through the transformation of a former warehouse into a contemporary workplace. The project led to a broader regeneration process involving both the building and the surrounding urban block.

The conversion required a full review of the building: structural upgrading, spatial reorganisation, building systems design, safety coordination and fire safety strategy were developed in an integrated way during the design phase, making the building suitable for a new, highly intensive use.

The concept and interior design, including furniture design, were developed by SLOWD, which defined the visual and material identity of the spaces.

Layout

The project moves beyond the conventional coworking model, creating a central space that organises circulation and encourages interaction. The indoor square becomes both the distribution element and the core of the activities.

The layout was designed to balance open areas and more private spaces, integrating the technological equipment required for both in-person and remote meetings, while ensuring comfort and privacy.

Technical infrastructure and construction

The structural upgrading made the new functional layout possible, while the mechanical and electrical systems were designed to support high technological loads and continuous use.
Construction supervision supported the execution phase, ensuring consistency between design and realisation through to project completion.
