Retail and Offices, Education
The project involved the architectural, structural and building systems design of a new retail and office complex along one of the main commercial and connection routes in Reggio Emilia. The project was developed after the demolition of a disused industrial building and the construction of a contemporary volume, as part of a wider urban regeneration process.
The building includes the Trony store, developed according to a contemporary retail concept focused on clarity, readability and a strong visual identity.
The building is arranged over two levels. The ground floor is dedicated to retail, while the first floor includes office spaces, shared areas and terraces overlooking the north and south facades.
The layout was designed to ensure clear circulation, separation between retail and office functions, and flexibility in the use of spaces.
The building is defined by large glass surfaces that strengthen the relationship between interior and exterior. The main facade is organised in horizontal bands, with greater transparency at ground level and recessed areas on the first floor that lighten the overall volume.
The large roof canopy, supported at the front by thin metal columns, becomes the distinctive element of the project. In the evening, integrated lighting highlights its presence and helps define the building’s identity within the urban context.
Structural and building systems solutions were developed in coordination with the architectural design, responding to the operational needs of the retail store and the offices above.
The construction phase was managed through construction supervision, ensuring consistency between design choices and the completed building.
