The project concerned the full renovation of the top floor of a residential building in the historic centre of Reggio Emilia, including the architectural upgrade of the property and the complete interior design.
The work started from the combination of several housing units, later reorganised into two separate apartments. The design fully redefined the layout, internal distribution and building systems, transforming a divided space into a coherent and contemporary residential environment.
The concept led to the creation of two open-plan homes, designed to provide visual openness while maintaining functionality.
Full-height sliding systems and custom-made solutions make the spaces flexible, alternating open areas and private zones. The addition of mezzanines levels in the attic space made it possible to use the existing heights more effectively, increasing the usable surface and organising the home across multiple levels.
The project included a complete upgrade of the building systems and a significant improvement in the energy performance of the building envelope, with particular attention to roof insulation.
The design integrated structure, systems and interior design, creating a balance between contemporary language, construction quality and the enhancement of the building’s original features.
