Architectural restoration and seismic upgrading

The project involved architectural and structural design for the restoration of Villa Valentini and the adjacent former stable building, intended to provide housing for users of the mental health service of the Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority.

The design was based on two main objectives: preserving the historic identity of the complex and upgrading it from a structural and functional point of view, including the seismic improvement of the entire structure.

The works included the strengthening of load-bearing masonry and existing structural elements, with targeted measures to ensure safety and compatibility with the new intended use.

Space planning

The former stable building, previously converted for residential use in support of the villa, was repurposed as an integral part of the residential and semi-residential psychiatric facility.

The project preserved the typological and morphological layout of the complex, maintaining the relationship between the existing volumes and the connecting building. Targeted design solutions were introduced to ensure suitable living conditions, safety and consistency with the healthcare context.

Technical coordination during construction

The works were managed through construction supervision and safety coordination during both the design and construction phases, ensuring continuity between design choices, structural strengthening and on-site implementation.
