Sports Facilities
The Langhirano sports area was built within the municipal sports centre as a facility designed to host different types of sports and physical activities. The project was developed to integrate the new building into the existing system and improve the availability of spaces dedicated to sport and community use.
The facility is connected to the main pedestrian route crossing the area from north to south, strengthening its relationship with the other functions within the sports complex.
The building is organised into three distinct volumes: a main block for the large sports hall, a second volume for activities requiring smaller surfaces, and a third L-shaped building housing changing rooms, offices, ticket office and support services.
The east-west orientation of the sports hall was designed to improve comfort within the sports spaces and prevent direct glare on the playing court and stands. Natural light is introduced in a controlled way through an indirect roof daylighting system. The main hall is designed to host different sports disciplines, while the secondary hall is intended for physical activities requiring smaller spaces.
The project included structural and building systems design, with particular focus on heating, water and fire-fighting systems, as well as fire safety design. The load-bearing structure is made of reinforced concrete, partly left exposed.
Construction supervision and safety coordination were also carried out during the execution phase, with particular attention to accessibility, the organisation of the stands, emergency routes and access for rescue vehicles.
