Sports Facilities
The project involved the construction of a new sports hall within the Sant’Ilario d’Enza Municipal Sports Centre. The complex consists of three distinct volumes: the main building containing the playing court and spectator stands, a two-storey building housing gymnastics and weight-training facilities, and a single-storey wing dedicated to athletes’ changing rooms.
The facility was designed to support both school and competitive sports, integrating spaces for athletes, services and spectators.
The architectural, structural and building systems design were developed together to create a functional and safe sports facility suitable for a range of disciplines. The playing court features a floating timber sports floor suitable for volleyball and basketball competitions, while the spectator stand consists of reinforced concrete terraces with numbered timber seats and a capacity of 300 people.
The building has a reinforced concrete structural frame, a roof formed by glulam timber beams and insulated profiled metal panels. Exposed brick infill walls and painted aluminium window frames complete the architectural design.
