Concept for the new healthcare pavilion

The competition proposal interprets the Oncology and Radiotherapy Pavilion at Parma Maggiore Hospital as a recognisable and reassuring place of care.

The spaces are organised to make routes clear, support wayfinding and ensure comfortable conditions for patients, visitors and staff, with natural light as a central element of the design.

Structure, flexibility and safety

The building is developed according to a regular layout, allowing for a high degree of spatial flexibility and the possibility of adapting the spaces to future healthcare needs. The load-bearing structure is designed to ensure long-term reliability and appropriate performance in the event of an earthquake, limiting damage and supporting operational continuity.

The facades alternate glazed surfaces and opaque volumes, creating an essential and recognisable architectural image, consistent with the role of the new pavilion within the hospital complex.
