Concept and landscape integration

The project for the REMS facility in Accadia, in the province of Foggia, was developed as a concept for a healthcare facility conceived as a “large home”: a protected environment designed to accommodate vulnerable guests.

Located in the Monti della Daunia area, north-west of the town of Accadia, the architecture draws on the typological features of a mountain masseria, establishing a direct relationship with the landscape and enhancing views over the surrounding territory.

Spatial configuration and functional organisation

The building is designed as a low-impact pavilion, composed of several wings connected in a triple-body layout. It is predominantly single-storey, with a two-level head volume.

The compact yet linear configuration clearly defines the internal areas, supporting a balance between therapeutic requirements and quality of living.

Open spaces and therapeutic dimension

The project integrates a network of green spaces conceived as an active part of the therapeutic pathway.

The internal gardens — dedicated to contemplation, sport and recreation — are complemented by a landscaped perimeter area, extending the possibilities for outdoor use and strengthening the relationship between architecture and nature.
