2025 -
Industry and Logistics
Kohler Co. Engines, part of the multinational Kohler Co. group specializing in the design and production of diesel and gasoline engines, established its European headquarters in Reggio Emilia in 2012 following the acquisition of Lombardini Group, a historic italian mechanical engineering company.
Since 2015, a renewal process has involved the entire industrial campus, now part of Rehlko. The complex includes production areas, warehouses, offices, laboratories and spaces dedicated to engineering development.
Detailed and construction design, along with construction supervision, were developed in collaboration with Makio and Naomi Hasuike, ensuring consistency between concept and implementation.
The intervention included the removal of obsolete elements and the introduction of a new facade system composed of lightweight, partially filtering surfaces, such as technical fabrics and perforated metal panels. The use of a coordinated colour palette unifies volumes differing in function and scale, creating a coherent identity for the headquarters.
At the same time, the organisation of the external spaces was rethought, reducing the visual impact of parking areas and introducing new circulation routes and more representative entrance spaces. The landscape design was defined through exposed concrete surfaces and extensive green areas.
