Modular organisation and spatial flexibility

Competition proposal for the new ARPA Lazio offices in Rieti. ARPA Lazio is the public agency responsible for technical and scientific activities in support of environmental protection. The project defines a pavilion-type building arranged over one basement level and three above-ground floors, with approximately 60 workstations and spaces designed to ensure flexibility of use.

The layout is based on a modular structure with three-bay transverse steel frames, allowing for a functional distribution of the spaces and greater adaptability over time. The main facades are protected by sun-shading canopies that help control solar exposure, while green areas become an integral part of the project, improving environmental comfort and helping mitigate the urban heat island effect.

Smart building and energy management

The proposal is designed to meet high standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The project includes the integration of a Building Management System (BMS) for the centralised monitoring and control of the building’s technological systems, enabling energy consumption to be optimised and the main building services to be automated.
