Highly specialised healthcare infrastructure

The project involved the architectural and structural design of the radiotherapy bunker within the North Operational Area of the B. Ramazzini Hospital in Carpi. The project was developed to integrate a highly specialised technical facility into the existing hospital complex.

The underground layout was defined according to radiation protection requirements, internal circulation needs and the correct integration of the new structure within the hospital system.

Functional layout and internal connections

The bunker is organised around the treatment room housing the linear accelerator, together with technical rooms and spaces for healthcare staff, including the control console and changing rooms. The structural and spatial layout was developed to ensure the required shielding levels and full compliance with safety regulations for radiotherapy facilities.

Light, art and environmental quality

Particular attention was given to waiting and connection areas, designed to provide appropriate environmental quality within a complex healthcare setting. The roof garden includes glass openings that bring natural light into the spaces below.

The integration of artworks helps create a more human-centred atmosphere, improving the user experience within a highly specialised healthcare space.
