Places of Worship
The project involved the architectural, structural and building systems design of the San Patrizio Parish Complex, developed as part of the programme for new places of worship in the eastern outskirts of Rome, launched for the Jubilee of 2000.
The project was designed to organise the liturgical spaces and the areas dedicated to parish community activities within a unified complex, integrating religious, social and service functions.
The church is based on a square plan, with the interior space organised around the congregation and the main liturgical focal points. The sail-shaped ceiling guides the space towards the presbytery, marked by a tiburium volume that reinforces the centrality of the celebratory area.
The architectural language is based on the interaction between geometric volumes, exposed brick surfaces and white stone cladding, while the reinforced concrete structure is fully clad to ensure material continuity across the entire complex. The project also includes the layout of the external areas, with vehicular and pedestrian routes, parking spaces and planted green areas with native species, designed in continuity with the urban context.
