The AVEN Pharmaceutical Warehouse was developed to centralise the storage and distribution of medicines for the healthcare authorities of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia and Modena. The facility represents a strategic logistics hub for the Emilia-Romagna healthcare system and a reference model in Northern Italy.
The project defined a prefabricated building integrating the automated warehouse with the administrative and management spaces of the facility. Offices are located on the south side of the building and are identified by aluminium sunshades, while the main volume is dedicated to logistics activities and the automated management of pharmaceutical and medical device flows.
The building’s architectural identity is defined by red painted aluminium portals, making the facility recognisable within the rural landscape of the Reggio Emilia plain.
The project was developed according to advanced logistics standards, introducing innovative systems for stock management and picking operations based on different packaging methods for healthcare products. The building was also designed in compliance with seismic regulations and equipped with fire safety systems, including automatic compartmentation and differentiated suppression systems according to the characteristics of the internal areas.
Particular attention was given to the energy performance of the building envelope, with ventilated walls designed to improve heat dissipation and reduce condensation and thermal bridges.
The building was equipped with a photovoltaic system of approximately 57.5 kWp and solar panels for domestic hot water production and support to technical systems, contributing to reduced energy consumption and overall efficiency of the facility.
