The project involved the architectural design and design direction of the new entrance volume serving the office towers in the former Cantine Riunite area of Reggio Emilia. The project redefined the main access to the complex, introducing a central volume between the existing buildings and creating a clearer and more recognisable system.
The new element is positioned between the two towers as a connection and representative space. A large sun-shading canopy defines the entrance and gives it a clear architectural identity.
The volume is organised around a double-height atrium, which serves as the entrance and main distribution space. From here, the two towers are accessed through side volumes that complete the extension.
A suspended meeting room overlooking the atrium helps define the vertical character of the space. The project focused on clear circulation and readable spaces, making the entrance more functional and representative.
Building systems were integrated into the new volume in continuity with the existing system, improving energy performance. Heating and cooling solutions were designed according to the different heights of the spaces, with particular attention to the double-height atrium.
The entrance lobby was resized and protected by a new canopy, improving both functionality and weather protection.
