Public space regeneration

The regeneration of Viale Allegri is part of the broader programme for enhancing the historic centre of Reggio Emilia, representing a significant public space renewal project in the area of the former Zucchi Barracks (“Caserma Zucchi”), now a university campus.

The project involved a particularly strategic urban area, characterised by high levels of use and an important role as a mobility interchange, contributing to improve the quality and usability of spaces for students, residents and visitors.

Urban redesign and implemented works

The project included a comprehensive reconfiguration of the street section and pedestrian spaces, with widened sidewalks and a reorganisation of the existing green areas. In particular, planting beds around the historic trees were redesigned, enhancing the presence of greenery and improving the overall perception of the urban space.

From an operational perspective, the project included the renewal of paving surfaces, with demolition of the existing finishes and construction of new civil works, together with the integration and upgrading of the drainage network.
